Finishing your print

Watercolour paper

Watercolour paper is a wonderful substrate for photographs and reproductions. The size of the white border and the edge finish both impact the final effect. There are three examples in the sidebar. The bottom two both have torn or 'deckled' edges. We are happy to provide this service at Dragonfly. Please ask us for a quotation.

If your image is to be printed on sheet stock with a natural deckle, please let us know if you would like the deckle retained. An example is in the image below.

Just as you would display original artworks on paper, prints on watercolour paper should be framed and displayed behind glass to protect them from airborne contaminants and UV light.

Canvas

Prints on canvas need to be coated and then stretched and stapled onto stretcher bars. Many clients do this themselves using stretchers purchased from art supply stores.

We also provide this service. We use a protective coating designed specifically for ink jet prints and museum-quality bars.

Your canvas can have solid colour sides as shown below or you may choose to ‘wrap’ the image around the sides of the stretcher.
